Starting Point: Exombourgo Castle

Koumaros Village – A hiker’s paradise
From Exombourgo, head to Koumaros, a charming medieval village perched on granite rocks overlooking a stunning ravine. Be prepared to see how the locals take care of the hikers there.
Skalados and Krokos
Continuing the journey, pass through Skalados and Krokos, a village immersed in greenery and flowers. The village gets its name from the saffron plants (Krokos in Greek) that flourish in the area, adding vibrant colors to the landscape.
Loutra – The village of Monasteries
In Loutra, you”ll admire the impressive Venetian architecture, historic churches, and marble springs. This village is home to the former School and Monastery of Ursulines and the Monastery of the Jesuit Fathers, both important cultural landmarks of Tinos.
Xinara – The Heart of Catholic Tinos
A well-built, scenic path leads us from Loutra to Xinara, the headquarters of the Catholic Archdiocese of Naxos-Tinos and the former capital of Exombourgo Municipality. Here, you’ll witness a unique blend of religious heritage and traditional architecture.
Return to Exombourgo Castle
The route then climbs back to Exombourgo, where you’ll explore archaeological remains dating back to the 5th century BC, completing an unforgettable hike through history, nature, and culture.
